Main Objective

To improve accountability, responsiveness and effectiveness of Government and Service providers to Social Services delivery in Teso and Karamoja regions.

Specific Objectives

  1. Strengthen the capacity of local Government, state accountability agencies to respond to pro-poor service delivery among the poor and marginalized communities of Teso and Karamoja regions.
  2. Enhance the capacity of selected Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to demand      advocate and hold accountable Government and other service providers for better service delivery in Teso and Karamoja regions.

Results of the project

  • Five Karamoja based CSO partners and 30 community based monitors equipped to monitor, follow up and report emerging corruption cases. Riamiriam hosts an anti-corruption liaison function, identify, train, and facilitate independent budget monitors to spearhead transparency and accountability in their areas as rights holders.
  • Documentation and sharing of emerging issues from the lower level, that are used for anti-corruption advocacy campaign where need be at the national level with specific reference to resources earmarked for Karamoja region.
  • Karamoja anti-corruption issues profiled to national level. This involved establishment of a robust anti-corruption platform with a broad mandate of anti-corruption advocacy campaign at parish and sub county levels with specific reference to resources earmarked for Karamoja region.
  • Local linkage established to address emerging anti-corruption issues. This drawn in the coordination role Riamiriam exercises as the implementing agency, to ensure the project is implemented in accordance with partnership provisions.  It included the issues of quality control and stewardship for project resources as well as sustainability and future intervention strategies.
