MOROTO, UGANDA – In a bid to promote menstrual health and hygiene among female students, Riamiriam Civil Society Network -Karamoja, in partnership with the Bank of Uganda, has donated sanitary pads to students of Rupa Seed Secondary School in Rupa Sub- County, Moroto District.

The school administration and students warmly received the donation, which aims to support the education and well-being of girls in Karamoja.

“We recognize the challenges faced by female students in accessing sanitary pads, which often leads to absenteeism and poor academic performance. This donation is part of our efforts to support the education and well-being of girls in Karamoja,” said Benson Onyango, Operations Officer at Riamiriam Civil Society Network -Karamoja.

The Headteacher of Rupa Seed Secondary School, John Ssekabira expressed gratitude for the donation, saying, “We are thankful for the support from Riamiriam Civil Society Network -Karamoja and the Bank of Uganda. This donation will go a long way in helping our female students stay in school and focus on their studies.”

Agnes Napakol, who benefited from the donation, said, “I’m so happy to receive these sanitary pads. Sometimes, we would miss school because we don’t have pads. Now, we can stay in school and learn without worrying about our periods.”

The donation is expected to benefit over 150 female students at Rupa Seed Secondary School, promoting menstrual health, hygiene, and education among girls in Karamoja.
